Details
Medetomidine is emerging in the unregulated drug supply, raising new questions for community responders, harm reduction programs, and healthcare providers. For our next Life Unites Us webinar, we’ll be joined by Shannon Ashe, MSW, LCSW, Cofounder of The Everywhere Project, who will provide a clear overview of what medetomidine is, how it is showing up in the drug supply, and how it differs from xylazine. We will also explore what is currently known about potential withdrawal concerns, symptoms to watch for, and practical resources to support people who may be affected.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- describe what medetomidine is and understand the timeline of its emergence in the drug supply,
- identify key differences between medetomidine and xylazine to support accurate assessment and response, and
- recognize potential withdrawal concerns related to medetomidine, understand what symptoms to look for, and know what resources are available to support individuals.
