H.O.P.E Program: A Multi-Stage, Variable Length of Stay Program Focusing on Recovery From Opiate Addiction

INTRODUCTION TO THE HOPE PROGRAM. With the oversight and direction on Thomas Callahan, Executive Director, the HOPE program was developed at Cove Forge in 2012. At that time, we were looking at the AMA rates among young opiate users in our Rehabilitation Program. We collected and studied the data, that with a certain reliability, showed that our opiate dependent clients would often first be motivated for treatment, but then experience a drop in motivation around day 7 to 9 and that we would experience AMA rates of 27%-30% with this group. The HOPE program was developed following a great deal of research on the neurochemical endorphin, which was identified as being greatly impacted by opiate use. After many discussions, information sharing and team meetings with Mr. Callahan, a program was constructed rich in known factors that would have positive impact on this neurochemical
