Description

This course is designed to review common ethical dilemmas encountered by the various professional disciplines working in the SUD treatment field.

Presenter

Kathleen Chiasson-Downs, LPC, ALPS, AADC, is the Lead Clinician for Addiction Services with the WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, a section of the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Additionally, she is an adjunct instructor for the WVU School of Counseling and Well-Being, with her area of focus on addiction studies. She received her Master of Arts Degree (MA) from WVU in 2004, her North Carolina counseling license (LPC) in 2009, West Virginia counseling license (LPC) in 2012, her approved licensed professional supervisor (ALPS) status in 2014, and her advanced drug and alcohol counselor certification (AADC) in 2014.

Learning Objectives
  • Participants will be able to define ethics and identify sources of ethical guidance.
  • Participants will be able to describe key ethical principles and standards of ethical responsibility among various SUD professional disciplines.
  • Participants will be able to identify ethical dilemmas encountered  amount different professionals working with SUD population.

Earn 1.5 Continuing Education Hours (CEs)

To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.

  1. Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz and click “purchase.”
    NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
  2. A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
  3. Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available to print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Addiction professionals, employee assistance professionals, social workers, mental health counselors, professional counselors, psychologists, and other helping professionals that are interested in learning about addiction-related matters.
