This session is part of NAHEWD’s national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV. This webinar will focus on practical and philosophical street medicine approaches to primary, secondary, and tertiary HIV prevention among people who live unsheltered and use substances.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will define 3 core values of street medicine that enhance prevention and treatment of HIV among people living unsheltered who use drugs.
2. Participants will examine strategies for primary, secondary, and tertiary HIV prevention employed by street medicine teams.
3. Participants will compare the impacts of current street drugs and adulterants on the ability of people sleeping rough to achieve their SUD and HIV related goals.
